- Challenge:
- Two guests are honorary doctorate, one is the "Godfather" of Hong Kong's Journalism, another one is the former HKBU president
how to create a style that suits their identities but match their lectures' topics?
- One lecturer is shorter than the other, how to avoid comparison?
- There are so many information in different events materials, what kind of typography should be designed?
- Process:
- Almost 27 designs has been drafted. Simple backgrounds with images related to "cutting-edge" has been chosen.
- To avoid comparsion, carry out photo retouch to level the height and facial expressions of the lecturers.
- Heavy serif and light san-serif fonts are tried.
- Solution:
- Finally we take the concept "less is more" and emphasis the importance of the lecturers, only their photos are remained.
- A gradation of silver colour related to space is used to express a feeling of "tech savvy", it is also "grand" and match their
renowned identities.
- Thin san-serif font is used to create a brevity feeling. In order to reduce visual noise but not too boring and still arouse a "cutting
edge" feeling, I place a gradation decorative thin line under the typography settings.
